How Charlie Sheen Is Celebrating His 46th Birthday

Happy 46th birthday, Charlie Sheen -- he made it through!

It's been a wild year for the former Two and a Half Men star. As his erratic behavior dominated headlines, the actor was officially fired -- and even killed off -- his hit CBS sitcom.

In Oct. 2010, the actor partied it up with porn star Capri Anderson before turning violent and trashing his Plaza Hotel suite. (His ex-wife Denise Richards and their daughters Sam and Lola were in another room down the hall at the time.) He was taken to a hospital for observation and then released.

In January, following an epic bender with porn stars at his mansion, he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital for severe abdominal pains. Later that month, he began a rehab program in his home and CBS announced that Two and a Half Men would go on hiatus.

By February, Sheen was aggressively bashing show creator Chuck Lorre in a series of interviews. "My passion is misinterpreted as anger," he explained to the Today Show. I don't think people are ready for the message I'm delivering and delivering with a sense of violent love."

In March, Sheen was officially fired from Two and a Half Men; the instant Twitter superstar announced his nationwide "Torpedo of Truth" tour the same month.

In May, Ashton Kutcher confirmed that he would be joining the cast of Two and a Half Men. By July, Sheen's comeback TV project was announced: Anger Management, a future sitcom loosely based on the 2003 film starring Jack Nicholson.

As of August, Sheen and ex-wife Brooke Mueller -- who he allegedly threatened with a knife on Christmas Day 2009 -- were "thinking of getting back together." The duo -- who are parents to three-year-old twins Max and Bob -- even jetted off to Mexico to celebrate Mueller's 34th birthday.

Scarpetta Chef Scott Conant Shares His Spinach-Ricotta Gnudi Recipe

When stars like Jay-Z, Beyoncé Knowles, Britney Spears andRihanna want top-notch Italian food on various coasts of the country, they frequently dine at Scarpetta. The eatery – which opened its first location in Manhattan in 2008 – is owned by Scott Conant, the host of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle on the Food Network. Scarpetta has since expanded to other major cities: Miami, Toronto, L.A. and at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The restaurant's Beverly Hills location was even the home of Kim Kardashian's wedding rehearsal dinner in August. Want to stuff your stomach like a star? Conant reveals the ingredients to a dish he cooked for his private dinner party at Gilt City's house in the Hamptons last month. Follow the recipe below:

Spinach and Ricotta Gnudi

Ingredients 1 lb ricotta, sheep's milk 2 eggs, yolks ¼ cup spinach, blanched and chopped fine ½ cup Parmesan 4 tbsp flour 3 tbsp fresh breadcrumbs To taste nutmeg, grated To taste salt To taste pepper Procedure • Mix all the ingredients together & let rest for 10 minutes. • Make two small balls and test cook. Place in boiling water until they float, then shock in ice water. • Taste; if they are too soft and don't hold together, add more flour and test again. • Portion all of the gnudi and roll into balls. • Cook and shock as before, then coat in olive oil and reserve.

To Serve

Angelina Jolie Exhausts Kids With Elaborate Garden Party

Party 'til you pass out!

As Brad Pitt continued shooting World War Z at Longcross Studios outside London, his love Angelina Jolie found just the thing to keep their six kids happy, entertained...and tuckered out!

On Saturday, Jolie, 36, dazzled her brood -- Maddox, 10, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 3 -- with something special in the garden of their rented home in London's Richmond neighborhood.

PHOTOS: How Viv and Knox have grown up

"All of the kids were in the garden to play and she surprised them with a local group of children's entertainers," a source tells Us Weekly of the sunny day.

"Think juggling, game organising, races, that type of thing."

Jolie's treat was just the trick for Shiloh and the gang, the source adds. "The kids laughed and screamed all day. They were exhausted by the time the troupe left!"

PHOTOS: Angie's style evolution

Sounds like Jolie has made peace with her man Pitt's epic shoot in the UK for the zombie flick -- which had her contemplating making a break for it to the U.S. last month.

PHOTOS: Angelina's parallel life with another movie legend

"She's not pleased being at home while he's on set," another source told Us earlier this summer. "These are the longest hours he's spent on a set in a while, so it's just her and the kids with not much to do."

Jennifer Lopez Reveals Idol Judges' 'First Fight'

No more Ms. Nice forAmerican Idol judgeJennifer Lopez. The singer admits that she and her cohorts on the panel – Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler – recently had their most combative disagreement since coming together as a threesome on last season's show. "Me and Randy and Steve got into our first fight. I got really, really upset," Lopez, 42, toldRyan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Friday. The blowout – which Seacrest confirmed visibly riled her – bubbled up at a recent audition after a girl with what Lopez felt was an exceptional voice performed for the panel. "She was amazing," Lopez recalls. But Tyler didn't agree – and asked for another song. "I was surprised because I was ready to vote," Lopez said, adding with a laugh, "Sometimes the days get kinda long." When the girl's second song got going, though, Tyler, and then Jackson, quickly nixed the girl from going further in the competition. "I thought I was being Punk'd," Lopez recalls. "[I thought], 'How can we let this girl go?' I was upset. When I believe in something … I knew this girl deserves the chance." All in all, though, Lopez says her second season is "going really great," but does admit: "The kids, we're being really tough on them." Lopez, whose new single Papi (off her latest album Love) is now out, briefly referenced her soon-to-be ex-husband Marc Anthony. "I call everybody 'Papi,' " Lopez said of the inspiration for the song. "I used to call Marc 'Papi.' We wrote the song about loving somebody and celebrating that."

'Extreme Couponing': Season 2 premiere date, first-look video -- EXCLUSIVE

TLC’s breakout hit Extreme Couponing is getting a premiere date — and EW has an exclusive first look at its second season in the video below where you get to meet a “shelf clearer.”
Couponing will return Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. with a sneak peak after the Sept. 12 series finale of Kate Plus 8. The season will have 12 episodes of innovative/scarily compulsive coupon-cutting obsessiveness. Subjects include a Pennsylvania mother of seven teenagers who uses her coupon-clipping skills to also feed 200 parishioners at her church and an upstate New York woman cutting like crazy to feed 280 people at her sister’s wedding.
Interesting aside No. 1: USA Today recently published a story about how there’s been a rash of newspaper thefts across the country that authorities are blaming on the extreme couponing craze. One editor actually touted the thefts as a “win-win” for the struggling newspaper industry. (Hey, they might be the stealing papers, but at least they’re flying off the racks!)
Interesting aside No. 2: September happens to be National Coupon Month (a happier premiere date coincidence than Bravo bringing back the Real Housewives of Beverly Hillsduring National Suicide Prevention Week.)
Anyway, enough chit-chat. Here’s your first look at Extreme Couponing season 2, with a woman who engages in a practice that’s “frowned upon” even by other couponers. Try not to steal the video:

Venus Williams Drops Out of US Open Due to Illness

Tennis star Venus Williams withdrew from the US Open tennis championship Wednesday, citing a recent autoimmune disease diagnosis.

Williams, 31, said in a statement that she is suffering from Sjögren's Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that causes fatigue and joint pain.

"I'm really disappointed to have to withdraw from this year's US Open," she said in the statement, adding that her diagnosis is "an ongoing medical condition."

According to the Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation website, the disease affects some 4 million Americans, and nine out of ten patients are women.

The symptoms include dry eyes and dry mouth and it may also cause dysfunction to such organs as kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver, pancreas, and the central nervous system. The symptoms occur when white blood cells attack their moisture-producing glands.

Coincidentally, Venus's sister, Serena Williams, dropped out of the US Openlast summer, due to injury.

Venus won at Flushing Meadows in 2000 and 2001. In her first match in two months Monday, she defeated Vesna Dolonts 6-4, 6-3 in the first round. She was supposed to face 22nd-seeded Sabine Lisicki Wednesday.

Williams had said she was ill with a virus when she withdrew from tune-up tournaments between Wimbledon and the US Open.

"I enjoyed playing my first match here and I wish I could continue but right now I am unable to," she said. "I am thankful that I finally have a diagnosis and am now focused on getting better and returning to the court soon."
